Tara Lana' Miller passed away Thursday May 11, 2017 at MUSC. She was the loving daughter of David & Terri Miller of Stuckey, SC.
Tara was born December 15, 1981 in Hope Ark. She was an honor graduate of Dreher High school in Columbia, SC. She graduated college in 2004. She earned a Bachelor of Art degree from Salem College, Winston Salem NC. had a EMS and paramedic from Forsyth Technical College, and certified though FEMA for ICS, ICS100 and NIMS. She worked as a paramedic in Winston Salem, NC. in Forsyth county. She was planning to attend Bowman-Grey school of medicine, but had an auto accident in October 2004 and was left a quadriplegic. Tara fought a long hard battle and was very courageous. Tara was an avid Cubs fan and got to see them win the world series before she passed
Tara was preceded by her grandparents Pete and Louise Tippitt of Hope, Ark., grandfather Forrest DeLane Miller of Blevin and Aunt Sharon White of Hope, Ark. She had South Carolina grandparents she adopted John and Margie Altman and an Aunt Sylvia Ard.
Tara was an organ donor and wanted others to live thru her. She was a loving daughter, sister, aunt and friend.
Tara is survived by her parents, her brother Jonathan (Christina) Miller, of Stuckey, SC., her grandparents Red and Lillie Chase of Isabella, OK., nephews Dylan Miller, Austin Miller, Jayden Miller, Gavin Powell. Nieces Katelyn Fields, Carson Powell. Her aunts Penny (Glendon) Griffis, Vickie (Charles) McKamie, of Hope, Ark, Cathy (Steve) Snowbarger of Oklahoma City, Ok. Her uncles Howard (Shelia) Tippitt of Hope Ark, Junior (Nancy) Miller of Cleo, OK. Dale (Margie) Miller of Hope, Ark. Ricky White of Hope, Ark. close friend Mary Phillips, and numerous cousins and special friends.
Memorial service for Tara will be held June 3, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Vox Memorial United Methodist Church, 1868 Vox Hwy. Johnsonville, SC
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Tara's caregivers Faye Felder and Nina Simone, also a special thanks to Leslie Lyerly RN. of Amedisys.
